The 2020/21 Bar Examinations have been suspended this year, the Supreme Court (SC) announced on Tuesday, September 28.

In Bar Bulletin No. 28, S. 2021 posted on SC’s official website, SC en banc decided to move the Bar exams from November this year to January 16, 23, 30, and February 6 next year.

“After considering the COVID-19 situation nationally and in all the testing sites, as well as receiving advice from various experts, the Supreme Court, after recommendation by the Bar Chairperson, with an abundance of caution and to assure the highest level of safety for all of the bar applicants and personnel, decided to reset the Bar Examinations,” the bulletin read.

All preparatory activities for the Bar exams such as selection of bar applicants of their venue and downloading of secure delivery program, among others, will continue.

The application period, however, will not be reopened.

In the same bulletin, 2020/21 Bar Examinations Chairperson Associate Justice Marvic Leonen reminded bar applicants to “study well, purposively, and with passion” and to “take care of each other.”

The 2020 Bar exams were first cancelled due to the pandemic.
