Bedan law professor and former Court of Appeals (CA) Justice Japar Babay Dimaampao has been appointed as new Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice.
Justice Dimaampao is the second Muslim justice to serve the High Court.
He served the CA for more than 17 years, after working as a prosecutor and then as Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court of Mandaluyong City.
He has been teaching Taxation, Commercial Law, and Civil Law at San Beda University, University of Santo Tomas, and De La Salle University, among others. He received his law degree at University of the East.
Justice Dimaampao is the 191st Associate Justice of the SC and will fill the post vacated when Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo was promoted as top magistrate.
