Q: How do you feel that your first academic term in San Beda University-College of Law is about to end?
A: I am very thankful and grateful that I have (hopefully!) survived this first term in law school. There was so much adjusting that I had to do, especially because of the rigorous standards of studying required due to the recitations—which of course I wasn’t used to before—but I am very happy that I can say that I have somewhat adjusted to law school. Of course I am very thankful that my blockmates are incredibly kind; they are caring and everyone really helps each other. Some of our professors previously also have said that law school is really about creating friendships and camaraderie so that you can all help each other survive.
Q: Despite the impending Final Exams in January next year, how do you plan to spend the holidays?
A: It’s all about priorities. Since starting law school, I have lost a lot of valuable time that I would usually be spending with my parents and family due to prioritizing my studies. So during the holidays, I will spend a lot of time with my family and friends, and I will also be preparing for the final examinations. However, I think during these holidays, it should be about recharging yourself—resetting yourself to be able to do well in the final examinations. You have to take care of yourself first both mentally and physically before you can study again in a hardcore manner for the final exams.
Q: Any message for our fellow students who wish to enjoy the holidays while preparing for the Final Exams?
A: I wish everyone a Merry, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I think my only message to SBU-COL students—which I will also apply to myself—is to just manage your time wisely; take care of yourself; take care of your studies; and definitely have time to relax and enjoy and take a step back from studying or at least during the first part of Christmas break. I hope everyone has an amazing holiday and that they spend their time with loved ones and that they can relax a little.
