The Supreme Court (SC) has reduced the coverage and revised the schedule for this year’s Bar examinations.

The SC released today Bar Bulletin No. 31, which detailed the changes to be applied for the upcoming 2020/21 Bar Examinations.

Instead of conducting the exams on four consecutive Sundays, the exams are now set for only two daysโ€”January 23, 2022 (Sunday) and January 25, 2022 (Tuesday).

Moreover, the number of questions per subject were decreased as the subjects were grouped into four categories in order to fit the new, two-day schedule.

The sets of examination for this year are the Law Pertaining to the State and its Relationship with its Citizens (formerly Political Law, Labor Law, and Taxation Law), Criminal Law, the Law Pertaining to Private Personal and Commercial Relations (formerly Civil Law and Commercial Law), and Procedure and Professional Ethics (formerly Remedial Law, Legal Ethics, and Practical Exercises).

According to the SC, the changes made are pro hac vice, taking into consideration the current pandemic, the disasters affecting the country, and the demand to produce new lawyers.
