MENDIOLA, MANILA โ The San Beda University-College of Law (SBU-COL) held a thanksgiving mass and a testimonial event for its 308 new Bedan lawyers who passed the historic 2020/21 Bar examinations last May 7.
The mass was presided by Rev. Fr. Aloysius Ma. A. Maranan, OSB and Fr. Rembert C. Tumbali, OSB.
With an opening introduction from SBU-COL Administrative Officer Atty. Lyan Juanico, the mass was followed by a short program where the new Bedan Lawyers were given certificates of recognition for successfully hurdling the first-ever online, decentralized bar exams.
During the event, College of Law Dean Marciano Delson acknowledged the exemplary performance of the new Bedan lawyers.
Dean Delson stressed that the recent performance was a major factor in the recognition of SBU-COL as a top university in the world.
He also reminded the new lawyers that apart from being lawyers of the country, they are Bedans who must always keep their love of Christ and neighbors, as well as the values of their alma mater by exemplifying humility, discipline, and a strong sense of community.
SBU-COL also gave the โHonor of Bede the Venerableโ award to Atty. Chelsea Eichel R. Dauz, the Collegeโs sole excellent passer in the recent Bar exams.
The Honor of St. Bede the Venerable is an award given by the College of Law exclusively to its alumni who place in the Top Ten of the Philippine Bar Examinations.
Student volunteers from the San Beda Law RGCT-Bar Operations Center, as well as other recognized student organizations of the College of Law, helped in organizing the event.
SBU-COL yielded 308 new Bedan lawyers out of its 316 bar examinees with a 98.10-percent passing rate for first-time takers and a 97.47-percent overall passing rate, clinching the third top performing law school with more than 100 bar candidates.
SBU-COL also produced 94 exemplary bar passers and one excellent bar passer.
