To welcome the new academic year, thebarrister conducted an interview with seven upperclassmen of the College of Law in order to bridge the gap between the raw minds of the freshmen students and of those in the higher years. The topic of the interview was to distinguish fact from myth regarding common beliefs in law school. It was conducted through Zoom, via a game-like setting, wherein the upperclassmen were asked questions or given some statements coming from the first year students. The content of the questions ranged from educational topics such as, “Can you really read full texts all the time?” to social ones like, “Will you lose your social life when you’re in law school?” Even questions about love life in law school were asked by the freshmen, such as, “Is it better to date a fellow law student?” and “Is it true that you’ll get single after a few months from entering law school?” Some of the other questions were perceived as controversial, while others were lighthearted and amusing. Nevertheless, all were indispensable experiences in the law school journey. The answers and comments of the respondents were varied based on their different personal experiences. The climactic question—“Law school is really hard so is it really worth it?”, were answered unanimously as FACT by the respondents. The interview was conducted to spread awareness about the realities of law school to freshmen and aspiring law students. It also aims to form a better understanding with regard to the different perspectives between and among the students from lower and higher years.
