Members of San Beda Law Debate Circle (LDC) marched with pride as semi-finalists in Siklaban, the Conflicts of Law Debate Tournament at Polytechnic University of the Philippines, last February 25, 2024.
The team was composed of Allysa Salvino, Maltha Villarubia, and Zhilla Estuita. Jay Emmanuel Lagamia, President of LDC, also showed his support throughout the tournament. Also present during the rounds was Margaret Era, the head researcher of the team.
Team San Beda had a perfect break as they won each match during the elimination rounds. They garnered an exceptional 90 points, making them the first-breaking team to enter the semi-finals.
Each member of Team San Beda was given a commendable speaker ranking at the end of the tournament. Salvino garnered the overall Best Speaker award, followed by Villarubia, ranking 2nd best overall speaker, and Estuita landing as the 5th best overall speaker.
Contenders from the College of Law also triumphed in other categories, with Clarisse Marquez braving her way in Scrabble and placing as the 1st runner-up.
In Tu-Law-An, the spoken word poetry contest, Angelo Mari Abid Bigornia also won as 1st runner-up, following Ateneo Law School.
The College’s E-Sports team, composed of Gabriel Mateo, Vince Henorga, Norben Abrentes, Carl Jensen Yee, and JC Camacho, led by their team captain, Justin Jello de Lara, also gave it their all as they ranked 1st runner-up for Defense of the Ancients 2 in the DOTA Mala In Se tournament.
