MENDIOLA, MANILA— Last 04 October 2024, San Beda University celebrated the Laudato Si’ event with the theme, “To Hope and Act with Creation in the Journey Towards the Jubilee Year.” The event seeks to uphold the university’s commitment to support and take active participation towards protecting the environment for the generations yet to come.
The celebration started with a Laudato Si’ Walk from Mendiola to C. Aguila and J.P. Laurel Streets, followed by a Eucharistic Celebration and Program at St. Placid Sports Center. The main highlight of the event was the submission by the Vice President for Academics, Dr. Divina M. Edralin, of the Year End Laudato Si’ Accomplishment Report of San Beda University to Rector President Rev. Fr. Aloysius Ma. A. Maranan, OSB, and ultimately to the Vatican. This shows how far we have come towards our cause as a Laudato Si’ university.
Further, Dr. Edralin also presented the Manual of Actions of the university to Rector President Maranan. The latter expressed his gratitude to everyone’s cooperation, students and faculty members, in making the manual of action as the university’s response to Laudato Si’.
A Pledge of Commitment was also declared to express the university’s continuing commitment to embrace the call to protect and preserve our common home. Guided by the principles of Laudato Si’, the university commits to adopt sustainable practices that promote the well-being of the environment and the future generations, ensuring that these actions will reflect the identity of San Beda University as a Laudato Si’ university.
