The Barrister

ABOUT

thebarrister, or The Barrister, is the official student publication of San Beda University-College of Law (SBU-COL). It has been producing magazines biannually and planners and literary folios, tagged as Red Ink, yearly.

Founded in 1971, the publication has been one of the main sources of the said institution of up-to-date university-wide and college-based events and relevant updates on the legal profession and local laws and jurisprudence, among others.

Over the years, thebarrister has been decked by several Bar examination topnotchers and prominent figures like Senator Leila de Lima and Sandiganbayan Justice Bernelito Fernandez, among others.

In 2020, Red Ink: Padagos was nominated as a finalist for the Best Student Organ (College Category) in the 42nd Catholic Mass Media Awards.

A leading student organization in SBU-COL, thebarrister has remained steadfast in performing its role of providing responsible campus journalism in service of the whole Bedan community. Its audience comprises mainly of law students and lawyers.

Its office is situated in the corner beneath the stairs of the first floor of the hallowed St. Benedict’s Hall at San Beda University.

AWARDS

thebarrister has won an award in the Publications category the 20th and 21st Philippine Quill Awards for the 2022 literary folios “Red Ink 2022: Fragments” and “Red Ink 2024: Sulapo”.
